I was there...

...when the crowd cursed and swore in exasperation at every stray pass made.

...when the crowd ooohh-ed and aaaahh-ed at every missed opportunity.

...when the crowd rose every time a goal seemed imminent.

...when the everyone crossed their fingers at every set piece to be taken (here Giggsy's free-kick just clips off the crossbar)

...when Ronaldo's Razzle Dazzle tormented the opposing defence

...when Fred the Red made his half time appearance.

...when the Super Swede 17 Henrik Larsson opened his Man United account on his debut, and with a peach of a finish too

...when the opposing supporters found their voice after their team equalised (and in the process put the home crowd to shame...)

...when Baby-faced Assassin Solskjaer scored a trademark Super Sub winner, albeit with some help from the opposing keeper...and in the 90th minute!!

...when the crowd chanted "Ole! Ole Ole Ole..." after the winner was scored.

Whew! What a day. I had to awake at 7am on a Sunday morning, spend over 42 pounds on the ticket alone, take 5 hour journey to the City of Manchester, miss the first 30 minutes of the game (which was no great loss really), skip lunch, take the 5 hour coach journey from Manchester back to London and have dinner at midnight. The sacrifces, though, were well worth it.

Of course, there was time for a trip to the MUFC Megastore (where more cash was spent), and a few photographs of the East entrance.

Special thanks to Jacob for agreeing to pay 42 quid for the match. It was well worth it eh?

Almost a decade to the day I started supporting United, my dream finally came true. At the Theatre of Dreams!

Ole!
